Writer's Block: Simply wonderful

It's often said that the simple things in life are the most precious. What small pleasures make you the happiest?

  • Music - seriously, what would life be like without it?  Sometimes, I think that music itself is company.
  • Being outdoors eg parks, beaches
  • Receiving hand written letters, cards, postcards
  • Receivig flowers
  • Being inspired by the generosity of  those around me
  • Cooking, especially if I improvise and it turns out nice haha
  • When people say thank you and show their appreciation
  • When my bro automatically lets me sit in the front seat without a fight
  • When my bro calls to ask when I'll be home and then offers to record the tv show that i'm missing out on for me
  • When my bro receives lolly bags from his friend's bdays and then lets me pick which ones i want from the bag.  Well, he gets first pick but then we take turns so it's still fair.
  • When my mum offers to make breakfast for me (very very rare)
  • When my mum makes sticky rice, when my dad makes congee
  • When my bro tells me that my cooking is better than my mum's lol

Writer's Block: Role model

Is there any character from a novel or film that serves as a role model to you? What kind of advice do you think she or he would give you regarding any major issues you're facing right now?

Off the top of my head - Haley James Scott. First thing that came to my mind about why is the fact that she holds onto her values. Second thing that comes to mind is the how she pursues the things that she is passionate about. Oh, and also .. her loyalty to friends. She's not perfect though I'll admit that but really, who is? Aiming to be perfect is not a realistic goal.

Advice? Hmm to be honest I don't have any major issues that I have to deal with atm but I guess a reminder of the importance of holding onto good friendships.

Writer's Block: Interests and/or passions

Okay so basically, I felt like posting since it's been a while since I've done these but I wasn't interested in the Writer's Block questions which LJ had so I looked up featured questions on Xanga instead. haha

If you had the resources to set up something you have an interest or passion for what would you do?

Ahhh too many things!

I have and always will have a passion for music so I guess I would love to set up a band or some kinda weekly meet up with my friends. Most of us play an instrument so we can just jam. Or, we can just work out how to harmonise tunes and just chillax somewhere in the great outdoors with a good view and just sing. LOL. Once, I was on the train and there were 4 ppl who sat on the 6 seater near me. The train wasn't that full and they just started singing in harmony, it was beautiful!

Hm. I've recently developed an interest in photography so if I could get what I want, I'd get myself the Nikon D90 with a VR 18-105 lens and also the 35mm f/1.8 prime lens. Oh, and an additional flash of some kind (I don't know my flashes yet). Having said that, considering it's just a hobby, I'm happy with Canon. If I had the skill, or time to master the skill/s, I would love to be an event photographer. I want to learn how to take nice portraits and also how to take beautiful candids.

Oh yea, I also like cooking and I would love to be able to cater for functions. I think actual sit down dinners would be very challenging and I like to prepare things with a lot of attention to detail so maybe finger foods, like canapes to go with drinks! I can wear my Masterchef apron in the process of it all! =) But realistically, if someone wanted to prepare their own food for birthdays, I'd be more than happy to help out and prepare something yummy.

Also, I was and I guess still am interested (though will not anymore) in having a contact lens based practice which specialised in Ortho-K. It's because I am not as interested in dispensing and I guess I've always found Ortho K to be pretty exciting and fascinating. Now that I am switching, I am curious about the application of some things I've seen in optometry in my new field. I'm pretty sure others would have thought about this before but right now, not really sure how it would work so it's hard to articulate. There is plenty to learn over the next few years and I'm very excited.

Regardless of what I would want to set up, and whether or not such ideas are realistic, I hope to be able to share my interests with those around me. Otherwise, I apologise if I bore you with the things I'm constantly occupying my procrastination time with! haha

Writer's Block: The play's the thing

What scene from a movie, book, or play would you most want to recreate in real life? Who would you play? Who would you cast in the other roles?

The first thing that comes to mind is the moment when Lucas has that epiphany after they win the state championships. Similar dialogue but change of context perhaps. Keep the same music, and the background blur along with the confetti. I know who I'd play, question is, who plays Lucas?

Writer's Block: Change is good

If you could change one major thing about your life, whether a relationship, your job, your living situation, your school, etc., what would it be? Are you currently working toward a serious life transition?

It would be my studying habits - I would like to procrastinate less (but don't we all?) so that I could spend more time with my family and be a better role model for my bro.

Writer's Block: Mysterious benefactor

If you could give a secret gift of any value to one anonymous recipient, who would you choose and what would you give them?

Not really sure what would be a suitable gift but at its simplest, a hug, to say thank you for all your support when I really needed it.  I couldn't have done it without you.

Writer's Block: Do you see psychics in your future?

If an online psychic warned you not to leave home, would you cancel plans to attend a party? Would you refuse to date someone with a clashing astrological sign? In short, do you believe?

Yes I believe, but when I want to.  Haha in other words, if the situation's good, and believing makes it better, I will believe.

Writer's Block: How Rude!

What's the rudest thing you've ever asked anyone? And what's the rudest thing you've ever been asked?

Someone once asked me "Were you paid to be a nuisance?".

The story goes like this.  When I was young, I thought that when you paid for printing at the library, it is to cover the cost of the paper.  One day, for my school project, I wanted to print on special paper.  The library only had plain white, so I brought in my own paper and asked if I could get the printing for free.   I thought it seemed reasonable.  And that's what the librarian said in return.   I mean, back then, I guess didn't actually understand that what we were paying for was the printing service.  It's not my fault that I didn't get that, don't you think she's so rude?
